Below is some Healthy Lifestyle choices that you can make to improve your own health!
Office Exercise
Sitting at a desk all day working tends to make any type of exercise impossible. However, with a few simple techniques you can burn calories while you work!
- Walk or bike to work; if those are not feasible, park as far as possible from your office and walk there.
- Find opportunities to stand; stand while talking on the phone or instead of calling across the room to a co-worker, get up and walk to their desk.
- Use break times as a chance for fitness; take a brisk walk or do some stretching.
- Trade in the office chair for a fitness ball. This will help with balance, posture and strengthen the core muscles. The fitness ball could be used for wall squats or abdominal workouts during breaks.
- Keep resistance bands or hand weights at your desk; use them while on the phone or in between tasks.
- Begin a lunchtime walking group with co-workers.
- Pick up the pace; if your job involves walking or physical labor, do it faster, but still safely.
All of these ideas will allow you to burn more calories than you normally would during the work day. They will not replace a moderate to vigorous exercise routine, but they will increase your caloric expenditure.
